New Philly Papers Company Removes <5 Percent Of Staff

philadelphia inquirerThe company that now owns, the Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Daily News has removed “a number” of top managers, a staff reduction that amounts to less than five percent of total staff, reports.

Among the staff changes: William K. Marimow stepped down as editor of the Inquirer Thursday. He was replaced by deputy managing editor Stan Wischnowski, who is now serving as acting editor. Marimow told that he planned to stay as an investigative reporter.

According to the Facebook group “Inquirer Alumni Network,” news desk editor Bill Sniffen is also leaving, sports editor Jim Cohen is out, AME Paul Moore and IT guy Vic Haldeman are both out.
