The editor of Garden and Gun magazine, Sid Evans, is leaving for Time Inc., where the company has created a new position for himGroup Editor at Time Inc’s Lifestyle division.
Evans “put Garden & Gun on the map” as sister blog FishbowlNY says, but he is now “thrilled by the opportunity to work on such powerful brands,” he said in a statement.
Evans, a Time Inc. alum, will now oversee editorial for Cooking Light, Southern Living, Coastal Living, Sunset and This Old House.
Prior to his work at Garden & Gun, he served as editor-in-chief of Bonnier Corp’s Field & Stream and editorial director of SaltWater Sportsman; before that, he was editor of Men’s Journal.
But don’t mourn too much for the staffers at Garden & Gun who now have to toil without a leader: Evans has already been replaced. David DiBenedetto (pictured, image via), formerly executive editor of the magazine since 2008, has been promoted to editor-in-chief. “It is a great time for the brand and David has been an integral part of this success,” president, CEO, and founder Rebecca Darwin said.
DiBenedetto also spent time in the top spot at SaltWater Sportsman and has worked at Men’s Journal.
