ZDNet reported that College bescherming persoonsgegevens (CPB), the Dutch Data Protection Authority, asked the social network to postpone the implementation of its new privacy policy until it can complete an investigation into how it affects Facebook users in the Netherlands.

CPB is focusing on how Facebook will receive permission from individual users to use their personal information and photos for commercial purposes, according to ZDNet, which added that CPB is authorized to regulate the social network due to its office in the country and the fact that it processes personal data from its citizens.

Facebook said in an email to Dutch newspaper NRC Next:

We are extremely surprised and disappointed in CBP’s investigation.
