The NBA and Samsung are teaming up on exclusive 360-degree videos from the NBA Finals—pregame warmups and shooting, entrances, captains’ meetings and postgame footage—which will be shared via the league’s Twitter account and the Samsung Mobile U.S. account.
The footage will be shot using the Samsung Gear 360 camera, and the content will be pre-recorded, and not broadcast live, a Samsung spokesperson told CNET.
However, there’s a catch: Unlike Facebook, which hosts its 360 videos, this content will be hosted by websites off Twitter and accessed by users via Twitter website cards.
As Amplify heads into its fourth year, we see a great opportunity to partner more closely with over 300 premium content partners around the world—and the NBA and Samsung are certainly on the cutting edge of thinking about how to bring even more video content directly to fans.
Readers: Do you think Twitter will eventually host 360-degree videos, as Facebook already does?
