It’s partly due to excitement currently generated by the National Basketall Association playoffs, but the pro hoops brand has been killing it on Instagram video. For the second consecutive week, the NBA is No. 1 on the VideoWatch/Shareablee weekly top 10 rankings for brands on the social-video platform.
While the games have been nail-biters, the league’s top-performing 15-second offering this week is actually about fashion. The video consists of a dozen or so stills that feature the preppy/trendy duds being worn by LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Paul Pierce, Russell Westbrook, etc., as they strut their stuff before and after their playoff games.
The video’s popularity underscores how the NBA has strongly positioned its brand as an impact player in the realm of men's fashion/lifestyle. The ultra-popular National Football League doesn’t quite have the same panache. And Major League Baseball? Forget about it.
