National Book Foundation Seeks Digital Innovators

The National Book Foundation, sponsor of the National Book Awards, has just opened applications for its second “Innovations in Reading” Prize. The Foundation will award prizes of $2,500 to individuals or organizations that have, according to the Foundation, “developed innovative means of creating and sustaining a lifelong love of reading.” And this year, the Foundation is specifically seeking applicants who are using digital technology.

Here is more from the Foundation’s program director Leslie Shipman: “We hope to extend our reach this year beyond grassroots approaches into the educational and technology communities, perhaps to someone who has developed a great iPhone or Open Source application that encourages reading in ways we haven’t yet imagined.”
