National Geographic is tapping all its resources to promote its April water issue (on sale March 30), which seeks to draw attention to the world’s fresh water supply.
Nat Geo is offering up its first interactive digital issue, with Zinio-powered features like video, animated maps and rollover graphics. The issue is free for 10 days, after which a $5.99 download fee applies.
NationalGeographic.com is promoting the topic on each part of the site on March 22 in honor of the U.N.’s World Water Day.
The water issue unleashed a welcome gush of advertising in print. Through March, Nat Geo’s ad pages were down 22 percent, per the Mediaweek Monitor, but April ad pages rose 37 percent versus the year-ago issue.
