Myxer used the South by Southwest conference as a platform for unveiling its new Mobile Music Toolkit for indie bands and labels.
According to the ad-supported mobile content portal, the toolkit lets bands to share and promote their songs, videos, photos, ringtones and wallpapers on the Myxer site as well as on their own Web pages. They can also choose to give fans access to the content from mobile phones or the band’s MySpace page.

New MyxerTags: MyxerTags are essentially pieces of HTML code that bands can copy and paste from Myxer’s Web site on their own Web site, MySpace page or blog. The HTML code is displayed on each ringtone page, so fans can post and share their favorite band’s ringtones as well.
MyxerCodes: MyxerCodes are short text-message codes that give fans easy access to mobile content and artist information directly from their phones or the Web. Artists can create personalized MyxerCodes so fans can text “BandName” to MYXER.
Fanlists: Fans can join a band’s Fanlist to receive alerts with updated concert info, new releases and other band messages. Myxer has updated the service so fans can now sign up directly from their phones.
Pick of the Day: Myxer chooses a different piece of content from its catalog each day to be the “Pick of the Day” that’s featured on the Myxer home page. According to the company, the exposure for the band chosen results in several thousand mobile downloads for that day.
Sell Mobile Content: Bands can choose to give away their mobile content or set their own prices. Myxer provides instant access to detailed reports so bands can view their mobile download activity.
