MSTY Music Messaging App Launches Globally on Mobile

The app allows users to attach photos and text to 30-second song clips before sending them to friends.

Music messaging app MSTY (My Song to You) has launched worldwide, giving users a new way to communicate with friends by combining music with text and photos.

At launch, the app offers thousands of 30-second MSTY-curated song clips, with plans to add ‘hundreds’ more each week. These songs are available to browse in playlists based on mood, genre and more.

Once users have picked a song, they can attach a photo by taking one in the app, importing a picture from their camera roll or using one of the template images from the app’s library (these images are sorted by theme). Users can then type a short phrase and drag it the appropriate spot on the image to complete the message. It’s worth noting, users don’t have to add text to send the photo and song.

Once users start a conversation in MSTY, they can send additional music and picture messages, or chat through basic text. When viewing a music message on iOS, the message offers a prompt to jump to Apple Music to listen to the full song.

In a statement, Grant Bovey, founder and CEO of MSTY, commented:

Sometimes simple words and images won’t cut it—MSTY allows you to add that deeper level of emotion through the power of music. MSTY is a fun and exciting new way to message, whether you’re happy, sad, celebrating, flirting or just chatting with friends, MSTY contains the perfect song to suit any mood.

We’re delighted that the labels, publishers and Apple are fully behind MSTY. It’s vital that users can trust the apps they use and their support means we can offer that trust.

MSTY is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store and Google Play.
