Motley Crue Sells More Through Rock Band than iTunes

Mobile music may be big, but the game Rock Band could be bigger still. According to data provided by Motley Crue’s management, the band’s single “Saints of Los Angeles” was downloaded more than 47,000 times via the Xbox 360 version of the game alone in the first week after it became available, Reuters reports. Meanwhile, only 10,000 customers bought it via more traditional digital services like iTunes and the new Amazon MP3 store (as verified by Nielsen SoundScan).

“That’s a pretty big discrepancy considering that music bought via Rock Band can’t be transferred to a portable music player or even a computer for later enjoyment,” the article said.
