More Layoffs In Idaho Falls Broadcast Journalism
Earlier this week we reported that Idaho Falls’ CBS affiliate KIDK is laying off a number of its staff as it enters into a shared services agreement with the local ABC affiliate, KIFI. Now KPVI, the NBC affiliate also in Idaho Falls, is announcing that it’s cutting a dozen employees and axing its weekend newscasts.
The move leaves KIFI the only “fully staffed TV news operation in Eastern Idaho,” TVNewsCheck reports.
Also, there are now just 10 reporters at KPVI.
“We are just the victim of this economy,” Shelley Goings, GM of the station, said.
