The latest version (v1.1) of Winamp for Android is out with even more free music, additional language support and SHOUTcast (internet radio stream) support for Android (2.1 OS and above). AOL introduced Winamp 1.0 for Android a few months ago and it has turned out to be a huge success with over 4 million users. Free streaming and downloads were one the main selling points for the music player.
Android’s Winamp 1.0 introduced free music stream and downloads from Spinner with the help of an app. Users can either download the free MP3 tracks or play the stream. Now, with the new version 1.1 there is even more free music. In addition to free Spinner MP3s the users are offered a Full CD Listening Party. CD Listening Party gives access to the most favorite new full-length albums. Currently the Party is streaming playback only and you won’t be able to download the tracks. Every week the list of the albums is updated with the latest release of the most popular artists. There are currently 25 full length albums which includes music from Sam Phillips, Depeche Mode, David Bowie, Dean Martin, and Simply Red.
Winamp is available in beta on Android 2.1+. Unlike Android default media player, Winamp has the ability to seamlessly synchronize your desktop music library using standard USB as well as wireless. It also offers high quality playback and persistent player controls.
With the new release Winamp for Android now supports a total of 14 languages including: English, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Dutch, German, French, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese (Brazilian), Romanian, Russian, Spanish & Turkish.
