The #momentforsandyhook Across the Internet

News orgs break non-stop Newtown coverage to pay respects to victims

In a news environment where incessant coverage of traumatic events is commonplace, news organizations and individuals across the U.S. and the world took a moment today to pause and reflect on the tragedy that took the lives of a group of teachers and students exactly one week ago today. While the push to organize the moment of silence came from Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy, the nation and parts of the world responded, offering to join in solidarity. Across the nation at places like the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., bells tolled once for each victim and on social media many took to the #momentforsandyhook hashtag to pause from the usual din of Twitter chatter to reflect and pay respects in their own ways.
