Moloney Out, Phelps In As Examiner Publisher

It was announced today that Herb Moloney has resigned as publisher from the Washington Examiner and will be replaced by current Baltimore Examiner publisher Michael Phelps. Michael Beatty will be assuming Phelps’ former post in Baltimore. Phelps will also take on the new title/position of Chief Executive Officer of the Baltimore-Washington Examiner Group.

Moloney resigns after just over a year and a half on the job, after replacing James McDonald.

In other Examiner-related news, owner Philip Anschutz has just entered into a contract to sell and donate a total of 78 million shares of Qwest Communications, the parent company of the Examiner.
