Downtown offices were vacated this spring; 2012 summer and fall issues had been canceled. All indications were that 38-year-old Aspen magazine had run its course.
Modern Luxury Media president Alan Klein declined to disclose how much the company paid for the local magazine or the specific terms of the deal, but he did note that former owner Janet O’Grady will retain her position as editor-in-chief…
Klein, who has worked previously with O’Grady and [her late husband Randy] Beier, said that the acquisition came as a result of what he called the magazine’s quality brand. “I’ve kept in touch with [O’Grady] over the years, and I think that they just put out a fantastic editorial project,” Klein said.
As a result of the transaction, all three of Aspen’s glossy magazines (which also include Aspen Peak and Aspen Sojourner) are now owned by outside companies. Read the full Aspen Daily News report here.
