Just before Christmas, the January/February issues of Modern Luxury’s city magazines started hitting newsstands. On the cover is actress Chloë Grace Moretz.
The 19-year-old Moretz, due on screens next month in The 5th Wave, told writer Ray Rogers that she owes her success to mom:
“She’s my biggest influence… She’s a 10-year cancer survivor. She birthed all five of us and raised us as a single mom. She infuses hope every day that you can overcome your circumstances no matter what’s going on. You don’t have to be a negative broken-down person about it. You can still be a strong woman carrying her own, happily.”
When the next issue cycle rolls around for Modern Luxury in March, there will be a new title in the company’s expansive purview – Modern Luxury Silicon Valley. Per a recent announcement, Anh-Minh Le will serve as editor in chief, working under local group editor and San Francisco magazine EIC Jon Steinberg:
“We are eager to shine a spotlight on the evolving culture of this exciting region,” said Beth Weitzman, Modern Luxury vice president and editorial director. “Anh-Minh Le has tremendous editorial instincts, strong design sensibilities, experience launching publications and possesses a lifelong understanding of the vitality and excitement of the Bay Area.”
Le has served as EIC of Anthology magazine, which she co-founded, as well as as editor at large for California Home + Design. Silicon Valley will have an initial rate base of just 30,000, but imagine just how well-moneyed that rate base will be.
Modern Luxury also announced last week that it has appointed Randy Hano as group publisher in Chicago. Hano will oversee a total of seven publications including CS magazine, Men’s Book Chicago, Modern Luxury Interiors Chicago, NS magazine, Modern Luxury Brides Chicago and Charity & Social Datebook.
