Mia Amber Davis, best known for her role in the film Road Trip and work as a plus-sized model, died suddenly on Tuesday in Los Angeles. She was 36.
Davis had knee surgery on Monday to correct an old basketball injury. Her husband Michael Yard, who was in New York at the time, spoke to Davis the day she died. According to TMZ.com:
Yard… spoke with Mia Tuesday morning and she sounded normal and in good spirits.
However, hours later — Mike says he got a phone call from Mia’s cousin informing him that she was taking Mia to the hospital because Mia had been suffering from a bout of dizziness.
Soon after, Mike says the unthinkable happened — he got another phone call informing him his wife had passed away.
Mike says he immediately hopped on a plane to LA — and he wants answers … telling TMZ, “I want to know what happened to my wife.”
Davis’ agent told E! News the death was the result of complications caused by her knee surgery. An autopsy is expected later this week.
Plus Model Magazine, where Davis worked as creative editor-at-large, broke the news of her death. Though best known for her modeling and acting, Davis had a long career as a television producer. Her production credits include The Ricki Lake Show, With All Due Respect, and Divorce Court.
