Mobile Spy: Spy on an iPhone – But, Where’s the App?

An acquaintance told me about a somewhat surprising app for the iPhone: Mobile Spy describes itself as spy software for smartphones. Its description goes on to say that it records activities on a smartphone as well as location if GPS is available on the phone. You can read about the iPhone version here…

iPhone Mobile Spy

iPhone Mobile Spy consists of two parts. There’s an iPhone app that goes on the phone itself and a web service that lets you monitor the phone with Mobile Spy installed on it. The web service part of their product is available on a subscription basis starting with a quarterly rate of $49.97 and going up to a full year for $99.97. Here’s a little issue I noted though: Where exactly is the iPhone app? It isn’t in the U.S. iTunes App Store (Mobile Spy is available from a firm based in the U.S.). If the download comes directly from Retina-X Studios, does it require a jailbroken iPhone for installation? I sent email to Retina-X Studios to get more information. So, stay tuned…

By the way, do take the time to read the disclaimer provided in the legal page of the Mobile Spy site:

It is a federal and state offense in most countries to install monitoring/surveillance software onto a phone which you do not own or have proper authorization to install. It may also be an offense in your jurisdiction to monitor the activities of other individuals. Check all state, federal and local laws before installing any Cell Phone Spy Software such as Mobile Spy. You must always notify a person they are being monitored if they are over age 18. Federal or local law governs the use of some types of software; it is responsibility of the user to follow such laws.
