By 2010, streamed and broadcast TV services will become the most lucrative content services for mobile advertisers, according to a new report from Juniper Research. The study forecasts total annual mobile ad spend will top $1 billion this year and near $7.6 billion by 2013.
Not surprisingly, SMS campaigns make up the biggest chunk of the market. Juniper expects revenue from this text-based service to top $2.5 billion in 2013, up from just $335 million in 2008. Idle-screen advertising, meanwhile, is also expected to surge – rocketing from just $7 million this year to more than $500 million in 2013.
