Joachim Walter-Gustav Rogge, U.S. correspondent for WAZ Mediengruppe, a German newswire service, is missing and his family has turned to FishbowlDC readers for help. The D.C.-based reporter has been missing since Saturday (May 29) morning when he left his home in Bethesda, driving a 2006 white Ford Explorer with Maryland tag 50678M8 and a bike rack on back.
Joachim, age 53, was last seen on the 6900 block of Marbury Road in Bethesda, wearing a dark blue Izod polo shirt, dark blue knee-length shorts, brown low-cut Timberland shoes, and carrying a small gray backpack. He is a white male, 5’9” tall, weighing 150 pounds, with brown hair.
His wife, Valerie, tells FishbowlDC that their credit card was used at a Home Depot in Edgewater, MD on Saturday but has not been used again. His employer confirms that Rogge has not made contact with them since last week. Both his wife and WAZ say it is uncharacteristic of him not be in touch.
Anyone with information about Joachim Rogge’s whereabouts should call the Bethesda Police Department’s 2nd District Investigative Section at 301-657-0112. Also, please help Rogge’s family by spreading the word on Facebook and Twitter.
