Yesterday the LA Weekly blog reported that Slate columnist Mickey Kaus had filed papers at the registrar’s office to run for US Senator against Barbara Boxer. Except he hadn’t. Kaus had simply picked up the necessary paperwork. There’s still quite a bit of filling out of forms and signature gathering to do before Kaus can file for anything.
The LA Weekly corrected the blog post. But the original headline, “Kaus Files For U.S. Senate Run,” is still featured on the homepage. The incorrect headline is even being promoted in a banner above the amended story.
