Justin Rudd, our favorite local do-gooder/event planner likes nothing more than to dress cute, small things up in cute, small costumes and make them parade about the streets of Long Beach. Just about any time Second Street is closed, you can bet Rudd has organized another million mutt march of dolled-up dogs, often accompanied by kittens and adorable children.
For his latest trick — the 4th annual Southern California Kids’ Costume Contest on Oct. 29 — Rudd has wrangled a mess of sponsors to give kids free candy, free holiday cookies, and free mini-chocolate bars.
Oh, he also enlisted Miss California 2006, Jacquelynne Fontaine, to help judge the sugar high costumed contestants.
According to the Miss California website, Ms. Fontaine’s top concern? Diabetes Awareness.
