Miranda Mulligan will join the National Geographic Digital group as creative director, announced Nat Geo this afternoon.
Mulligan, the now former executive director of Northwestern University Knight Lab, will report to Keith W. Jenkins, general manager of National Geographic Digital, starting Jan. 29 and will be responsible for leading the digital design team.
“I’m delighted that Miranda will be joining National Geographic,” said Jenkins. “She has a wealth of experience as a designer, journalist and digital strategist, and she will play an integral role in providing creative direction for our Digital team.”
Mulligan, a graduate of the University of Miami (let’s go Canes!), was the digital design director for The Boston Globe before joining Northwestern University Knight Lab back in July 2012. She was also a multimedia presentation editor and news artist at The Virginian-Pilot and taught communication design at Virginia Wesleyan College and Ball State University.
