The Telegraph reported that a last-minute change to EU data-protection laws would force users under the age of 16 to obtain parental consent prior to creating social media accounts.
Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat and Google currently have age minimums of 13, as well.
According to The Telegraph, once the proposed law is agreed upon, it must be voted on by the European Parliament’s civil liberties, justice and home affairs committee, which is slated for Thursday.
