Microsoft Opens Zune to Game Developers

Engadget reports that Microsoft is opening the Zune platform to XNA Studio developers, allowing them to create games for the portable media player. Engadget was able to get a sneak peek at a couple demo games and said that it looks like developers will be able to build games for both first- and second-generation Zunes. It also noted that there’s not a “professional-grade” SDK available yet, with the development tools due in beta in the spring.

Microsoft is reportedly still working out some details, like how the games will be distributed or if developers will be able to take advantage of the social aspects of the Zune and allow for wireless game sharing among Zune users.
