Mediaite Writer Lives Near ‘Goat’ Park

Mediaite‘s D.C.-area writer Michael Triplett had unusual things on his mind today as he published a column about TBD’s goat story.

Namely, how did that goat head end up in the park near his home just outside Shirlington (that’s Virginia for those who don’t venture outside the Beltway)? “It worries me a little, although I actually think it’s fascinating,” Triplett told FishbowlDC. The head was found in Barcroft Park near Shirlington.

Triplett praises TBD on the goat find, but questions the new Allbritton venture for not positioning more reporters in Anacostia and Landover – …”If the goal of TBD is to by hyperlocal and cover life in the region, it needs to look beyond one-square mile of the Logan Circle Whole Foods,” he writes.

He also ridicules…

their crowded grocery store “trend” story by reporter, former DCist editor Sommer Mathis. He charges that the story tends toward the same demographic as Mathis – “young, educated and white.”

As for that goat head, Triplett says he has dined on goat – he insists it tastes like chicken. “I assume the goat head was in the park because the neighborhood is heavily Latino and African immigrants, so they would be eating the meat,” he said.
