Following in the steps of Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts, McDonald’s is testing a mobile payment plaform that allows diners to pay for Big Macs with their phones. The app would allow a customer to order their food and then pay for the item, before picking it up at the fast food chain’s counter or at a drive-through window.
McDonald’s is currently testing the new app at locations in Utah and Texas. Business Insider has more:
McDonald’s sees its new app as groundbreaking in the fast food industry. ‘While many competitors are publicizing their efforts to get an initial foothold in the mobile arena, no one has developed a comprehensive solution that integrates all the opportunities this technology presents,’ the company said in a memo obtained by Bloomberg.
