Entertainment writers are set to show their allegiance to their news-writing brethren in a full-page ad in tomorrow’s Variety, according to the Writers Guild of America. The ad takes CBS to task for its role in the protracted contract negotiations between the guild and the network.
Negotiations between the two sides stalled last month in New York over, among other things, the net’s plans to combine the newsrooms of its two all-talk L.A. radio stations (KNX 1070 and KFWB 980).
Among the 65 entertainment writers who lent their names to the ad are Neal Baer, Steven Bochco and Nora Ephron. Nora Ephron? In an executive street rumble over my integrity, it’d give me no comfort to know the person responsible for Bewitched has my back.
