Is that an iPad on the sideline at a high school football game? It might be if a member of the coaching staff is using MaxStatsFB, a free statistical tracking application developed for the Apple tablet by online high school sports giant MaxPreps.com.
MaxStatsFB allows users to keep track of real-time statistics from the sideline or the stands, and it connects to the MaxPreps.com database of schedules and rosters for all varsity, junior varsity, and freshman teams at all 16,400 high school football programs across the United States, allowing users to upload game statistics to the site.
The app also provides live team and player summaries and live scoring, and the Varsity Edition, available for $9.95, adds custom stat categories, plays, formations, and motions, along with the ability to create scouting games for film analysis of opponents, to print and customize stat reports, to capture and tag video and photos on any play, and to make notes on any play for postgame review.
MaxPreps.com president Andy Beal said:
With an easy-to-use platform, the 2011 edition of MaxStatsFB provides high school football coaches and their programs the necessary technology to streamline the entire stats process for their games. As penetration rates for devices such as the iPad continue to rise, I expect the MaxStatsFB app to become the industry standard for statisticians in high school athletics.
