Maryland Drivers Can Keep on Texting

Need to send that text message but you’re on the highway? No problem; at least not if you’re in Maryland.

Cellular-news reports that the state’s attempt to ban texting or using a BlackBerry while driving failed to become a law. According to the article, this was Maryland’s second attempt to impose the ban, which was rejected even though it would have allowed drivers to send text messages in an emergency situation.

The legislation was reportedly rejected because opponents believe that the state’s current dangerous driving laws are sufficient.
