From an internal Washington Post announcement, obtained by FishbowlDC:
We are pleased to announce that Kendra Marr and Alejandro Lazo will be staying on as two-year interns. Kendra and Alejandro joined the Financial staff in June as summer interns, and at the end of the summer, their internships were extended through the fall. They have both quickly made themselves critical members of our local business team.
Kendra has been covering business in the Loudoun County bureau, and we have been impressed with her energy, eye for stories and nice writing style. She will continue in Loudoun, where she has plans to dig more deeply into Sprint, AOL and Dulles, as well as the tech culture of northern Virginia. Kendra graduated this year from Northwestern University and has interned at the Miami Herald, the Orange County Register and the San Jose Mercury News.
Alejandro will remain on the commercial real estate beat. His aggressive reporting and knowledge of corporate finance have helped us stay on top of some important stories, like the convention center development, commercial real estate deals and the impact of the credit crunch on local building projects. Alejandro graduated this year with a masters of arts from the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University, with a specialty in business and economics. He has worked at the daily Lodi News-Sentinel and weekly Riverdale Press and interned for the New York Times and Newsday.
