Marc Newson's Lockheed Lounge Breaks More Records, Sells for a Cool $1.6 Million

Well apparently the “design-as-art” market is still alive and kicking. Either that or people just really love sitting on Marc Newson‘s chairs. Following up from yesterday’s post about Newson’s Lockheed Lounge going to the auction block, it’s been reported that the chair has fetched a whopping $1.6 million, breaking the previous records held by other copies of the same chair just two years ago. So does this mean the recession/depression is now over and we can go back to buying bunches of stuff again? Here’s a bit:
