Did Richemont executives catch Andy Rooney‘s recent 60 Minutes segment? They’ve just announced the ousting of Paulo Melim Andersson, a veteran of Italian fashion house Marni who became creative director of Richemont-owned Chloe in October 2006. Favoring heavy embellishment and folkloric prints, Andersson broke from the breezy femininity of former Chloe creative director Phoebe Philo and the not-so-breezy femininity of her predecessor, Stella McCartney.
WWD reports today that Andersson will be replaced by Hannah MacGibbon, who worked under Philo from 2001 through 2006. She’ll show her first collection for the house this October, for spring 2009. WWD describes MacGibbon as “a striking, soft-spoken blonde with a penchant for breezy dresses and statement jewelry” who recently consulted for Chloe on the launch of its signature fragrance.
