Freelance Photographer's Shot of Manchester Bombing Victim Dominates Front-Page Newspaper Coverage

It's everywhere

As British newspapers scrambled to update their late Tuesday editions and U.S. outlets prepared theirs, one photo stood out as the immediate and sad, logical choice. This morning, the shot of a victim of being helped away from the site of the Manchester bombing is everywhere.

The photo was taken by Manchester freelancer Joel Goodman and is being syndicated through Rex Features, AP and others. Goodman is a member of the British Association of Journalists and “believes strongly in a free and open press.”

This former photo editor at the Manchester Evening News would surely, in this case, trade everything for being professionally in the wrong place at the right time.
