For driving more than 85 miles an hour with a 0.12 alcohol level and an open bottle of tequila in his Lexus, and then verbally assaulting two police officers, Mel “No Special Treatment” Gibson got probation.
As part of a plea bargain, Gibson pleaded no contest to one misdemeanor charge of drunken driving and was sentenced to three years’ probation with a requirement that he spend the next year in a 12-step program for alcoholism.
