Time Inc. staffers beware: The dreaded “r word” has been mentioned. According to the New York Post, a restructuring is coming to Time Inc., and that almost always means layoffs.
Aside from cuts, the big news from the Time Inc. shake-up is that Fortune editor Alan Murray is expected to be named chief content officer. He’ll be succeeding Norm Pearlstine, who is supposed to step down and become a consultant to Time Inc. CEO Joe Ripp.
One other change that is expected to be announced as soon as today — Time, Fortune and Money will be shifted under the watch of Rich Battista, who serves as executive vp and president, entertainment and sports group and video.
Here’s hoping the Time Inc. restructuring also shortens Battista’s title, because that’s a little ridiculous.
