eBook adoption is going to be poised to take off in China thanks to a new partnership between Taiwanese mobile telecom carrier FarEasTone Telecommunications (FET) and Taiwanese-based digital bookstore eBook Town.
Digitimes reports: “FET has signed and will sign with 150 Taiwan-based publishers of Chinese-language books, novels, magazines, periodicals, cartoons, animations, etc., including personal publishing studios, for eBook Town, the company indicated. Opened on July 8, 2010, eBook Town has more than 10,000 items of content available for download, rent or subscription currently and has reached 500,000 downloads cumulatively as well as over 70,000 visits a day on average, FET indicated. FET expects the cumulative download volume to reach 2.5 million at the end of 2011.”
The eBook Town content is expected to be available on China Mobile’s online store in the second quarter of 2011.
