The M Booth FirstWord digital squad is taking a look back at the age of screen names, launching the #AIMname hashtag to get the reminiscing started.
The question is simple: What was your screen name? They’ve already gotten a few fun responses on their blog — Esquire magazine’s executive director of strategic partnerships and events Scott Lehmann was HeyMerrr2004, which came from a college joke, and Zack Mack, editor of Netted was DrEvil097. And the Shorty Awards is questioning whether it should be a category in next year’s awards.
I actually never had an AIM account. But had I known it would be of cultural importance, I would’ve signed up.
