The ‘get rich quick’ books of last year are to be replaced by the ‘don’t throw yourself off that ledge’ economic books of today.
And the industry, according to this mornings LAT, needs some book ideas.
“The goal in publishing is to stake out your turf as quickly as possible,” Grand Central’s Wolff said. “I haven’t seen an avalanche of submissions yet for the next big economics book. But it’s early. It’s only 1 p.m. I might see six of them this afternoon, and the floodgates could open.”
The trick is to write about bad times but not to be pessimistic. Kind of like the Left Behind series.
