For many in the Naked City, times are still tough. But as members of comedy troupe Local Empire demonstrate in the video below, that doesn’t mean you have to forego a nice, relaxing vacation.
All you need is a free weekend and the keys to the NYC office. Or in this particular case, the keys to Droga5, an advertising network located in NoHo on Lafayette Street.
The sketch was filmed early one recent Sunday morning. One of the members of Local Empire, Gabija Blake, works as an assistant to Droga5 founder and creative director David Droga.
Starring as the urban vacationers are Colin Drummond and Addison Anderson, alongside fellow Local Empire member Mike Molina as boss Mr. Dobbs. On a normal weekday, Blake and the Droga5 crew are working on all sorts of high-profile campaigns.
“My favorite campaigns this year are the ones we did for Spotify (“For Music” – a collection of emotionally moving spots that explore that inexplicable but overwhelming “something”-ness of music), and the New Museum (“Recalling 1993″ campaign – repurposing a bunch of old telephone booths for the sake of advertising their summer exhibit),” Blake tells FishbowlNY via email. “We’ve also received a lot of attention for the Newcastle beer campaign “No Bollocks.””
“It was featured for example on BuzzFeed as “The Best Beer Campaign Ever”. Some of our other clients are Chobani, MakerBot, Under Armour and Motorola. The list only keeps growing.”
