The FishbowlDC Interview With <em>Breitbart News</em>'s Lisa De Pasquale

Meet Lisa De Pasquale, former CPAC director and blogger for Breitbart News and Townhall. De Pasquale began her career in media at 14 years old as the "Teen Movie Critic," a feature in the Tallahassee Democrat in her hometown of Tallahassee, Fla. Coincidentally, she's a Republican and made her way to the conservative side of the field after attending a journalism conference in D.C. at 16. Since then, De Pasquale has traveled with conservative author Ann Coulter (though it was on 9/11 and their planes were grounded), walked through a casino with rocker Ted Nugent and loaned conservative columnist Michelle Malkin her mascara. She currently lives in Northern Virginia and alerts us that though she's a board member of the gay Republican group GOProud, she's also "straight, single and ready to mingle/participate in flirty banter in exchange for drinks and dessert. " Now the questions... If you were a carbonated beverage, which would you be? One of the odd-ball ones like bacon soda or the turkey and stuffing soda they sell at Thanksgiving. You’re repulsed, but also a little curious. How often do you Google yourself? Whenever I’m trying to find an article I wrote so I can plagiarize myself for a new article. What’s the worst thing you’ve ever said to an editor/boss (or vice versa)? I was told I would get fired if a memo I wrote got out. He was right. Have you ever goofed up on air? What happened? I don’t know if counts as a goof, but before a political radio interview my then-boyfriend dared me to say “nipple” during the interview. I did AND it was in context. Who is your favorite working journalist and why? Jake Tapper. He’s thoughtful, engages with people on Twitter and has a cute dog. Do you have a favorite word? Schadenfreude Who are you named after and what are people’s general reaction to your name? I was named “Lisa” because Elvis died the year I was born and his daughter’s name was very popular at the time. I get more reaction from my last name though, which means “of Easter” in Italian. Calling attendance on the first day of school always went something like this: Adams, Brown, Cooper, … Lisa…, Davis. Who would you rather have dinner with – NBC’s Brian Williams, CNN’s Roland Martin, ABC’s Sherri Shepherd or Fox News’ Megyn Kelly? Tell us why. Megyn Kelly because there’s a greater probability that cute guys will come to our table. The Earth’s human population is dying out and you must save it. You will spend a romantic evening with either WaPo's George Will, NYT's Thomas Friedman or any Fox News anchor. Who will it be? (None is not an option.) Any Fox News anchor, with a strong preference for Greg Gutfeld or Bret Baier. What swear word do you use most often? Is “dang” a swear word? I really don’t swear that often. You’ve just been told the big news: You get to have your own Sunday morning talk show. Who will be on your roundtable? (Pick four journalists or pundits types.) Ann Coulter, Greg Gutfeld, Nick Gillespie and Thad McCotter. So, basically I would host FNC's “Red Eye” on Sunday morning. On a serious note for a moment, if you could have dinner with a person who has died, who would it be? Mamie, one of my best friends who died of pancreatic cancer when I was 18. Who is your favorite Boybander and why? (Ezzy, Hazy, Weigel, Attackerman, Beutler) Dave Weigel because he’s the only boybander who follows me on Twitter. When you pig out what do you eat? Jeni’s Ice Cream, Salted Caramel or Brown Butter Almond Brittle. Thank God it’s $10 a pint, so I don’t indulge very often. What is your absolute favorite item of clothing in your closet? We want the fabric, the brand, the store and the price if possible. If it’s a certain kind of underwear we don’t want to know about it. INC white jeans from Macy’s. I think they were probably $75 or so. Is it Memorial Day yet? Have you ever had a tarot card reading? Yes. GOProud’s Jimmy LaSalvia took me to a new age store in Old Town Alexandria and we got several different readings, each as disappointing as the last. Have you ever had a near-death experience? In high school I was in car accident involving two cars with students all from the same school. I was a passenger and not injured, but there were several injuries and one death in the other car. Ever been arrested? Not yet. What scares you? The economy. Too many people I love and care about are living month to month or day to day. What’s your most embarrassing career moment? When I introduced Rush Limbaugh at CPAC 2009 I told a story about becoming a conservative in the backseat of a Camaro. Nothing happened other than listening to Rush on the car radio. I was trying to be funny, but some people thought I was really talking about something friskier in front of thousands of conservatives and the CNN, Fox News and C-SPAN viewers. Have you ever been fired? Yes. Given that the kooks at World Net Daily were happy about it, I think it’s pretty obvious it was a bad decision. When and why did you last laugh so hard you had tears in your eyes? Probably talking potty humor with my sister. When and why did you last lose your temper? Lately, very often. I get very angry when I see people lying about my friends at GOProud in order to further their short-sighted political goals. Breakfast cereal of choice: Rice Krispies (mixed with butter and marshmallow). I don’t like milk, so I don’t eat cereal very often. Who would you want to play you in a movie? I would want to play myself and have Bruce Campbell play my love interest. It would be NC-17. Hotel you stay at when you visit Manhattan: Alex Hotel or Marriott Marquis. From WaPo's Alexandra Petri: "What's in your bathroom?" The standard toiletries, several bottles of bubble bath, a stack of Lucky and Food and Wine magazines for bubble bath reading, and a painting my mother did of a lighthouse.
