The Washington Post’s Lisa de Moraes, author of the “TV Column, is relocating to Los Angeles.
The move makes sense on a number of levels. First, de Moraes was previously based in LA when she wrote for the “Hollywood Reporter.” Second, she can cover her beat more effectively by being with and among the various television bigwigs and cast of suits. Third, she’s already in Los Angeles many weeks of the year (as she is now, covering the TV Critics Association meetings in Pasadena).
It looks as if she will keep her DC office at the Post, and will return from LA to spend a couple of months every year at their 15th St., NW office.
One thought does pop up: Does the Post have too many people covering television? There’s Lisa, Tom Shales, John Maynard (covering local news) and TV editor Michael Cavna. Plus, we’re hearing that the Post is looking to hire one more TV reporter, perhaps as a replacement for Chip Crews, who took the buyout.
