Milwaukee Business Journal Reporter Among LinkedIn’s Top Media Writers

Olivia Barrow is one of this year's "Top Voices."

You’ve got to love a newspaper reporter who ponders “Can a Monkey Do My Job?

That twist on the old hypothetical involving a roomful of typewriters and the works of Shakespeare is one of more than a dozen topics examined on LinkedIn this year by Milwaukee Business Journal reporter Olivia Barrow. Based on her level of reader engagement and other factors, she is #2 in the Media category on the social media network’s inaugural annual list of “Top Voices,” unveiled today by executive editor Dan Roth.

Barrow wrote on LinkedIn that she is “incredibly honored” to be among her group. Other media-focused Top Writers include Silicon Valley Watcher’s Tom Foremski, public broadcasting fellow Kiara Imani Williams and VideoNuze editor-publisher Will Richmond.

At press time, Barrow has around 1,700 LinkedIn followers. We imagine that number will now quickly rise. And getting back to that “Monkey” post, Barrow’s conclusion is a wise one:

Moral of the story: If you think a monkey could do your job, look for ways to change that. It might mean finding a new job.

Along with Media, the other areas singled out by LinkedIn’s 2015 “Top Voices” list are: Technology; Money & Finance; VC & Entrepreneurship; Education; Healthcare; Marketing & Social; Management & Culture; Influencers. Congrats to all of those cited.
