Line Corporation has announced the addition of group voice calling to its messaging app on mobile, which allows users to participate in free voice calls containing up to 200 people.
Users can now create group voice calls within group chats, with a notification being sent to every user in the chat. The app displays the number of users currently participating in a call, and an icon appears above the user icon of the person who is currently speaking.
Line previously released its Popcorn Buzz app on mobile, which also supports group calls of up to 200 users. However, where Popcorn Buzz allows users to invite anyone to calls by sending them a URL, voice calls within the Line app are only available to Line users.
Line said this group voice call service will first be available in ‘countries and regions outside of Japan, Thailan, Taiwan and Indonesia,’ and will launch in those areas in the future.
