Limelight Networks, Inc., a company which supplies Web publishers with a technology platform used to deliver and manage content, has acquired the rich media firm EyeWonder Inc.
Terms of the deal, which is expected to close sometime in the first half of 2010, were not disclosed.
As a result of the new alignment, Limelight will be able to offer publishers a wide range of both content delivery and monetization services. According to Limelight executives, the company now boasts of relationships with over 2,500 online businesses and over 800 interactive agencies.
Per officials, EyeWonder’s advertising serving platform will service more than $500 million in media spending globally this year. The company has been a pioneer in beyond-the-banner ad creative, particularly in video.
“We believe joining forces with the EyeWonder team will help us build long-term value for our shareholders and further establish Limelight Networks as an important, at-scale participant in the rapidly growing rich media, video, mobile, and web TV advertising sectors,” said Limelight chairman and CEO Jeff Lunsford.
