Let Them Eat Cake

Katherine Seelye investigates a pressing question for the Washington Post: How do you coordinate the going away parties for so many who are going away?

Take the Business section, for instance. They had to face nine good bye parties (and nine cakes?) and produce nine “honorary farewell front pages” custom-tailored for each outgoing employee…could the presses handle it?

Jill Dutt, assistant managing editor for business news, said the department produced one big cake. And it made up faux front pages for five of the nine people who are leaving this month; the other four, who are leaving later, will receive their pages later.
