Leon Wieseltier has found a new home following his resignation from The New Republic this Fall, and the tidal wave of departures that ensued.
The renowned writer and literary editor is taking his talents to The Atlantic, where he will be reunited with his former colleague at The New Republic, Ann Hulbert, literary editor of the magazine.
“For a generation of editors and writers, Leon has helped define standards for piercing criticism of culture and society,” said James Bennet, president and editor in chief of The Atlantic. “There is no writer better equipped – by dint of erudition, wit, and forcefulness – to fill the role of critic for The Atlantic.”
Bennet announced on Monday that Wieseltier will write for both the magazine and the website, as a contributing editor and critic.
