Good Review, Part 2: I think we’re developing a non-sexual girl-crush on Carina Chocano. Her review of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest is so much more entertaining than any of the actual films in theaters right now.
Dogged Pursuit of the Truth? The Times chooses to cover the end of the “wildly successful” Los Angeles Film Festival with some drivel about a girl and her dog. Does Carina have to do everything around there?
And The Drummers Keep Exploding: VH1 today will premiere Rock Legends: Platinum Weird, a mockumentary about a band that never existed. According to the Times, “Dave Stewart (formerly of Eurythmics) and Interscope Geffen A&M Records are gambling that viewers — and potential record buyers — won’t feel misled by this mockumentary that holds itself out as a rockumentary.”
They’re worried that we’ll feel burned for being lied to? By the record industry? Well, then, how ’bout releasing the unproduced tracks of Stars Are Blind? Yeah, we didn’t think so.
