Larry Ingrassia Joins The Los Angeles Times

Former New York Times deputy managing editor Larry Ingrassia is joining The Los Angeles Times as an associate editor. Ingrassia had served at the NY Times from 2004 to September of 2014, when he announced he was leaving amid a shuffling of editors.

At the LA Times, Ingrassia will focus on new ventures. This is right in his wheelhouse, as with the NY Times, Ingrassia helped usher in new products such as the NYT Now app and NYT Cooking.

“Larry is going to help us create new products, new ideas, new ventures at an editorial standard that is consistent with all our brand stands for,” said Austin Beutner, publisher and CEO of the LA Times, in a statement. “He’ll take his set of experiences across all forms of journalism.”

Prior to his stint with the NY Times, Ingrassia spent 25 years at The Wall Street Journal.
