Lady Gaga announced a personal donation of $1.5 million to Zynga’s initiative to raise funds for Save the Children, as well as the Red Cross, through her sales of Japan Prayer Bracelets: We Pray for Japan. When purchasing the bracelet, you can choose your price and add an additional donation with your wristband. All proceeds go directly to Japan relief efforts. Lady Gaga’s contribution has allowed Zynga to donate more than $3 million to victims of the Japan earthquake and tsunami.

Two-time Grammy winner, songwriter, musician, and fashion artist, Lady Gaga is known for her creative charitable contributions. She takes the creative “win-win” philanthropist point of view and throws her weight around when it comes to donating for a worthy cause.

Lady Gaga’s donation arrived after Zynga players raised over $2 million in the last two weeks to Save the Children’s Japan Earthquake Tsunami Children in Emergency fund and other causes. Zynga.org, Zynga’s philanthropic branch, is committed to “transforming the world through the power of virtual social goods with campaigns in Zynga games”. Since its inception in October 2009, hundreds of thousands of players have raised more than $10 million dollars for international nonprofits.
